Runway and Tower Information:

BHM is capable of accommodating most modern air carriers, cargo transport, general aviation and military aircraft operating within North and South America. BHM is equipped with two runways, Runway 6/24, RDC D-V and Runway 18/36, RDC D-IV.

The completion of the extension of runway 6/24 in July of 2007 was the first step for BHM in becoming a full service international airport including scheduled nonstop passenger and cargo service.

  • Pavement Condition/Classification: Runway 18/36 is designed to accommodate a 75,000-pound single wheel load, a 170,000-pound dual wheel load, and a 240,000-pound dual tandem wheel load.

When requesting parking with ATC, please identify Atlantic EAST or Atlantic WEST. The East ramp is located at the east end of taxiway N. The West ramp is located at the SW end of taxiway H.

international flights:

Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport has full international passenger and cargo facilities with U.S. Customs in the Federal Inspection Station.
