Uber starts operating at BHM

Birmingham, Al – In recent months, the Birmingham Airport Authority has engaged in a series of amicable negotiations with Uber and as of this afternoon an agreement has been reached with the ridesharing company.  The agreement will allow Uber and its drivers to pick up passengers at the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport (BHM).

“Now that the Airport Authority has completed its discussions, we look forward to welcoming Uber to BHM.  We are happy to be offering our passengers another ground transportation option when they travel with us,” said Birmingham Airport Authority President and CEO, Alfonso Denson.

Uber customer pick-up will take place along the arrivals curb located on the lower level of the front side of the terminal.

This service expands the ground transportation services at BHM to include taxis, shuttles, limo service, rental cars and ridesharing companies.

“We’re excited to bring travelers more safe, reliable transportation options so visitors and residents can get where they need to go when they arrive in Birmingham.

I’d like to thank the Birmingham Airport Authority for presiding over a thoughtful and constructive process to expand consumer choice in transportation at Birmingham-Shuttlesworth, ”said General Manager for Uber Alabama, Tom Maguire.
