Animal Relief Area
Traveling with furry friends? Visit our Animal Relief area, where pet waste disposal containers are provided for your convenience. Simply proceed to the lower level of the terminal, exit through Door 4L, then turn right to find the grass area facing the FAA control tower. Airport officials encourage pets in service wear proper identification and owners have paperwork easily accessible. All other animal friends should be crated for their visit to BHM.
Telecommunication Devices for the DEAF (TDDs)
TDDs are located on the lower level between baggage claim 1 & 2 and baggage claim 3 & 4 near Airport Operations.
Visual Paging for the Hearing Impaired
Passengers who are hearing impaired can be visually paged on our flight information display system (FIDS). This service can be requested at our Information Desk located on the lower level in baggage claim 3 & 4 or by calling (205)599-0500.
In order to accommodate all of our passengers, even down to the tiniest ticket holders, family bathrooms are located throughout the terminal. All bathrooms located post-security are equipped with changing tables and children’s toilets.
For nursing mothers, we have quiet, private rooms dedicated exclusively to you, so you can nurse or pump in peace. Each nursing room features comfortable glider seating, electrical outlets, a sink, soft lighting and ample counter space.
Kidzone Play Areas
Children are a blessing, but sometimes traveling with little ones can be challenging. Our “Kidzone” children’s play areas are designed to let kids have fun, get extra energy out of their system, and make everyone’s trip a little more pleasant.
Need cash for your travels? Our terminal features five BBVA Compass ATMs located conveniently throughout the terminal. ATM locations are as follows: on the lower level of the terminal near baggage claim; on the upper level in the rotundas for concourses A and B; and near the food courts for concourses B and C.
Cash to Card Machine
Convert cash to a card for ease of use aboard airliners. A cash to card machine is currently available pre-security near the TSA checkpoint.
Ready to use, instant swaps, and rechargeable. FuelRods are a reusable, portable charging system that allows you to fuel (charge) your mobile device on the go, and then recharge or swap for a fresh one. FuelRods are available on each concourse and in baggage claim.
BHM Skycaps are located both inside and outside the terminal to aid passengers in their travels. You’ll find Skycaps stationed curbside on the upper level to assist passengers with disabilities by checking bags and directing them to their gates. Skycaps are also located in the baggage claim area to service arriving passengers. This service is provided by the Huntleigh Corporation for the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport.
Got a lot of baggage? You don’t have to bear that burden alone. Smart Carte trollies are available to rent at baggage claim, as well as curbside near the terminal entrances on the lower level. Rentals are $5.00 per cart.

Electric Vehicle Charging Stations
Visitors to BHM who drive electric vehicles can charge up their rides with nine electric vehicle charging stations installed in the airport’s parking deck. Three chargers are on Level 3, in the hourly parking area and six chargers are on Level 6, in daily parking.
