BHM Passengers Continue to Trek the Globe in 2016


Birmingham, Al. – The Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport continues to see growth in 2016.  In January, passengers departing Birmingham grew by 5.3% while passengers arriving in Birmingham grew 4.3%.  It was an increase of approximately 10,000 more people traveling to and from Birmingham.

February also showed some growth for airport.  Passenger traffic grew 3.9%, approximately 7,000 more passengers over February in 2015.

“This growth is indicative of the positive economic upturn in the Central Alabama area. We’re glad to see the enplanements trending in an upward direction,” said Birmingham Airport Authority President and CEO Alfonso Denson.
