4 Things You Need To Know Before Flying at BHM
Here at the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport, we want to make sure that our passengers have up-to-date information on what to expect while traveling at our airport. Due to new regulations, we know that this year’s travel season looks and feels different. From when you arrive to when your plane lands on the runway, here are a few tips that all passengers should know before flying at BHM:
1. Don’t Forget Your Mask
Federal mandate states that a mask must be worn at all times in the airport. The same rules does applies with all of our airline partners. While aboard the aircraft, passengers must mask up when they are not actively eating or drinking.
2. Arrive At Least 90 Minutes Before Your Flight
The average time to check-in and go through security screening at BHM is 15 minutes, however, during high traffic travel seasons and peak travel times, wait times may be higher than normal. We recommend all passengers arrive at the airport at least 90 minutes prior to your boarding time.
3. Thorough Cleaning In The Terminal & Aircraft
At BHM, we are continuing our around-the-clock cleaning to make sure that high touch-point areas are properly sanitized. Each of our airline partners have made an ongoing commitment to properly clean and sanitize each aircraft after arriving and in between use.
4. Upgrades in the Terminal
We have installed hand sanitizer stations throughout the terminal for passengers and employees. We’ve taken the liberty to install touchless soap and paper towel dispensers in our restrooms for easy access.
