Birmingham Airport Authority is the changing landscape and shifting the conversation

Birmingham, Al – The Birmingham Airport Authority (Authority) is set to change the conversation regarding the residential area previously known as Eastwood Manor Subdivision, located along the main thoroughfare to the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport.  This area will be transformed from multiple residential properties to a Quick Turnaround (QTA) facility for Car Rental Agencies that currently serve the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport and its passengers.

The Authority is slated to purchase all 153 of these properties for the development.  Presently, over fifty percent of the properties have been bought and are currently being inspected and secured for clearing to make way for the future sustainable QTA facilities.  “It is imperative that the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport continue to build on its successes by being an economic driver for the area and region while remaining steadfast on its commitment to community and environmental stewardship,” said Birmingham Airport Authority Interim President/CEO, Miguel Southwell.

At its completion, the renovated area will be a single site for the Quick Turn Around Facilities conducive to rental car agencies ready car business at the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport.  They will have the necessary space for car maintenance, washing bays, and prepare their rental cars, to better serve the BHM passengers and Birmingham area customers.

“The Airport has long been an economic engine for the community.  This project is a great initiative that focuses on improving efficiency and customer care for Rental Car Agencies, said Michael Bell, Chairman of the Birmingham Airport Authority Board of Directors, “This is yet another upgrade to further BHM to world-class status.”
