Birmingham, Al – The Birmingham Airport Authority is opening its Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Educational Outreach Workshop Series with Tory Shumpert, The Marketing Guy. This workshop will take place on Thursday, September 12, 2017, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport’s meeting room A.
Tory is a marketing and sales manager for the Paul “Bear” Bryant Conference Center at the University of Alabama and owner of Management Resources Group. He has over 20 years of sales and marketing experience with specializing in customer retention and acquisition through effective messaging.
The Birmingham Airport Authority’s DBE Educational Outreach Workshop Series is intended to raise awareness of the DBE Program while helping socially and economically disadvantaged small businesses by providing supportive training and networking opportunities to enhance their business.
The Birmingham Airport Authority (BAA) looks to provide technical and management educational opportunities to minority and women-owned business enterprises (MWBE) interested in doing business with the Birmingham Airport Authority and Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT). The intent of the BAA DBE/ACDBE programs is to create a level playing field and remove barriers for DBEs/ACDBEs to compete fairly for DOT-assisted contracts.
“These workshops are a great opportunity for DBEs to network and continue to build their business acumen to partner or compete for business opportunities with the Department of Transportation and the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport,” said Al Denson, Birmingham Airport Authority President, and CEO.
