Passenger traffic at BHM increases for January

BIRMINGHAM ALABAMA – Passenger enplanements at the Birmingham- Shuttlesworth International Airport (BHM) increased 5.2 percent for the month of January. Over 200,000 total passengers traveled through BHM in January.

Airport Officials contribute the increase to The University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa playing for the National Championship in Pasadena. The championship game brought over 13,000 additional passengers and added twenty chartered flights. “January and February historically are low passenger traffic months. Fans’ traveling to Pasadena for the championship game was monumental for BHM. We were pleased to have the opportunity to provide the convenience and ease of travel for our region.” said Al Denson, CEO/President, Birmingham Airport Authority. Most of the major airlines serving Birmingham airport saw an increase in their passenger traffic over last January.
