BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA — The Birmingham Airport Authority expects over 53,000 passengers to travel through Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport, Wednesday through Sunday of this week for the Thanksgiving holidays, expecting the most traveled days to be Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Passenger departing from Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport will find checkpoints equipped with family/medical liquids lanes for those who may need assistance through the checkpoints. To ensure smooth and enjoyable holiday travel, it is important for passengers to plan ahead, check the Transportations Security Administration website at www.tsa.gov for prohibited items.

The cell phone waiting lot is a safe and convenient option for anyone picking up passengers at BHM. Use of this lot will ease traffic gridlock during peak times on terminal roadways. The lot is located directly off of Messer Airport Highway, it is free of charge and offers a display screen with flight arrival information.

"We are asking passengers to arrive at least ninety minutes prior to their flight departure for screening.” says Birmingham Airport Authority Spokeswoman, Toni Herrera-Bast, “We are looking forward to a good holiday travel weekend."
