BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA - Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport received two grant awards from the Federal Aviation Administration totaling over $11 million dollars. The first grant, valued at 8 million, included funding for land acquisition of 45 previously identified homes in phase 10 of the noise study program. The second grant, valued at 3.3 million, is designated for the airfield improvements and airport development.
Al Denson, President/CEO of the Birmingham Airport Authority, said, “We have been very fortunate to secure funding that will allow us to continue with projects that enhance the airport and the surrounding community. This is only possible through our partnerships with our federal delegation and the Federal Aviation Administration.”
