BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA - Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport today received two grant awards from the Federal Aviation Administration totaling over $2 million dollars. The grants include funding for land acquisition of previously identified area in conjunction with the noise study program and the purchase of airfield equipment. Designated a small airport by the Federal Aviation Administration, the Birmingham Airport Authority must match all federal grants with 5% of the grant amount.
Al Denson, President/CEO of the Birmingham Airport, said, "We have been very fortunate to secure funding that will allow us to continue with projects that will greatly enhance aviation services for our passengers. This funding would not be possible without the partnership of the Birmingham Airport Authority, FAA and our federal delegation."
